Taron Egerton: When I have troubles in my life - I call my mum

Taron Egerton has said he calls his mother when he is struggling with life in the public eye.

The actor, 29, explained how he feels under constant pressure to perform, which can make him feel on edge.

Egerton, whose portrayal of Sir Elton John in Rocketman arrives in cinemas at the end of the month, said: “When I leave these [interview] junket days [for movies], I’ll go back to my flat and I can’t sit still.

“I have to walk around, I have to call people, I have to do stuff. Because although this feels like a conversation, I’m actually performing.

“I’m trying to be genuine and create a true version of myself, but I am still attempting to convey that version through the quality of performance.”

He added: “When I have troubles in my life, I call my mum. She is rational, sane, functional, normal, and she has wisdom to impart.”

In the film Sir Elton struggles with the pressures of life in the spotlight. Egerton told The Red Bulletin: “He has been one of the most famous people for decades.

“The pressure that comes with that, as well as the allure of incredibly glitzy, seemingly perfect party experiences? I can totally understand.”
