Taron Egerton has revealed he's devastated that gay sex scenes have been cut from Rocketman.
Russian authorities have removed several romps from the Elton John biopic because of the country's ban on 'homosexual propaganda'.
Around five minutes of footage has been cut from the film because of the law, which lawmakers say 'protects' kids from "non-traditional sexual orientation".
Taron, who plays the Tiny Dancer legend in the flick, said he was "crestfallen by the decision" to scrap the scenes, as he voiced his support for the LGBT community.
Taking to Instragram, he wrote: "I am crestfallen that the decision was made to censor our movie for the Russian market.
"I’m even more disappointed to hear about it second-hand today on the day of our domestic release.
"I in no way condone this decision and feel disappointed hat I wasn’t made aware and given the chance to fight [for] this movie."
He ended the post with: "Love is love. No compromises."
Russian film critic Anton Dolin wrote on Facebook that "all scenes with kissing, sex and oral sex between men have been cut out… The nastiest part is that the final caption has been removed from the finale."
The original caption tells viewers that Elton is now happily married to his husband David Furnish and they're raising children together.
But the Russian version omits any mention of their marriage, saying instead that he set up an Aids foundation and is still working with his musical partner Bernie Taupin.
On Friday, John and the film’s makers released a joint statement about the cuts, saying: "We reject in the strongest possible terms the decision to pander to local laws and censor Rocketman for the Russian market, a move we were unaware of until today.
"That the local distributor has edited out certain scenes, denying the audience the opportunity to see the film as it was intended is a sad reflection of the divided world we still live in and how it can still be so cruelly unaccepting of the love between two people.
“We believe in building bridges and open dialogue, and will continue to push for the breaking down of barriers until all people are heard equally across the world."
