Tarik Cohen’s first TD of the season came because ‘he’s just dynamic’

Mark Helfrich had an explanation for how Tarik Cohen managed to slip past a rushing Everson Griffen and beat the Vikings’ Anthony Barr on an out route for a 10-yard touchdown Sunday.

“He’s who he is – and we’re who we are,” the Bears’ offensive coordinator said Wednesday. “He’s just dynamic.”

Cohen lined up in the backfield, slipped past the rusher and ran the route for his first touchdown of the season.

“He has a great feel for avoidance,” Nagy said. “But still being able to move forward or in that case, move at an angle but still gain ground and still attack the linebacker and threaten that guy with speed. That is a unique skill set.”

Helfrich said the Bears were trying to get that exact matchup — Cohen against Barr.

“Him in a one-on-one situation against a lot of linebackers is, ‘Advantage Bears,’” he said.
