Tarik Cohen remains one of Bears’ most electrifying playmakers

With a rich group of talent on the offensive side of the ball, running back Tarik Cohen remains one of the Bears’ most electrifying playmakers.

Though, running back is a loose term. Cohen is so much more than that.

He’s a threat as a runner, as a pass catcher and returning punts. Cohen has elite speed and that playmaking ability that makes his head coach look like a genius.

“Well, what happens is he makes plays and scores touchdowns,” Matt Nagy said, via the Sun-Times. “Then when he does that, I get the credit.”

It’s Cohen’s versatility that makes him someone teams have to game plan for. He’s quick and shifty running the ball. But he’ll just as easily light you up out of the backfield.

“For me, it’s really just two things: Either I’m catching the ball or I’m running the ball,” Cohen said. “For everyone else, they worry about where I’m at and all the things I can do, so that’s exciting, but I simplify it.”

When Cohen first entered the league as a rookie in 2017, he immediately opened the eyes of opposing teams. And that was with the John Fox Bears.

So when you put Cohen in an offense like Nagy’s, which is perfect with its creativity, it makes for great entertainment and even better production.

“He’s exciting with the things that he can do,” Nagy said. “He’s shown that, and nothing’s really changed. We just like where he’s at, and you put all these other pieces around him, it only makes him better.”
