Tarik Cohen named one of two 2018 Black College Football Pro Players of the Year

Tarik Cohen’s 2018 season earned him a Pro Bowl nod as a kickoff returner, and now he has another award to add to the trophy case.

Cohen was named one of two 2018 Black College Football Pro Players of the Year by the NFL Players Association.

The award goes to the top NFL players that attended a Historically Black College and University.

“We are extremely proud to have Tarik Cohen and Darius Leonard as this year’s recipients of this prestigious honor,” NFLPA Executive Director DeMaurice Smith said in a press release. “Their journey to this point and continued work on and off the field are a testament to the legacy and example set by the many great NFL players who came from HBCUs.”

The North Carolina A&T product finished 2018 with just under 1,600 all-purpose yards, over 1,000 of which were yards from scrimmage.

Cohen looked like Mitchell Trubisky’s favorite weapon for much of the year, a perfect fit in Matt Nagy’s offense.

He can do a little bit of everything for the offense, and he made his alma matter proud.
