Tarik Cohen believes Bears offense is capable of putting up 30 points in a game

The Bears offense hasn’t had much success scoring points in its first two games this season.

They’ve only managed one touchdown in two weeks — a hard-fought one-yard score from rookie running back David Montgomery. When your kicker is your leading scorer — and your quarterback hasn’t tossed a touchdown in two games — there are going to be concerns.

After a three-point performance against the Packers and putting up 16 points against the Broncos, many expect more from the Bears offense.

The Bears offense expects more from itself.

Chicago has the perfect opportunity to right the ship on offense when they face a Redskins defense that has given up 30 points in two straight games on Monday.

But is it reasonable to believe that the Bears can put up 30 points when they’ve failed to score a combined 30 points in two games this season? Running back Tarik Cohen certainly believes so.

“We all feel like we’re capable of putting 30 points up,” Cohen said. “When you get them going, you don’t want to go back to a three-point scoring offense. Once you start putting points on the board, it’s like, alright, we’re here now. Let’s not regress.”

That’s the feeling among players and coaches. Once the offense finally gets going — the way it’s supposed to — it’s a confidence booster that shows the offense that they’re capable of playing at a high level. Which should bring consistency.

If there was ever a perfect time for the Bears to play the Redskins, it’s now.
