Target is opening more than 30 new stores across the U.S., and one of those stores will be its 2,000th location, the company announced.
The big box retailer shared its plans to open 30 new stores this year as part of it's goal of opening 300 new stores by 2035.
While the company already claims that it has locations within 10 miles of most U.S. homes, more are on the way.
Seven of the new stores are opening this month, one of which will be the chain's landmark 2,000th store. The landmark unit will be located in Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina, just southwest of Raleigh.
Target said the 2,000th location “represents the future” of its stores, promising a layout which will give customers a "more relaxed and enjoyable shopping visit."
Other new locations will open this year in Bakersfield and Delano, California, Springfield, Missouri, and Oak Cliff, Texas. Those stores will open on March 15.
Two more stores — in Jersey City and West Orange, New Jersey — will open on March 29.
Target told Nexstar that four new stores will be opened in Florida and North Carolina this year, while Texas will get five new stores.
In addition to the stores opening in March, Target will open locations in at least 47 communities across 25 states to keep in line with its 2035 goal.

Target’s big box shops are serving as the anchor point in several larger developments. That's the case in places like Casa Grande, Fayettville, and Lexington.
In other places the stores will fill former retail spaces that are currently sitting unused. In Clearwater, Florida, a Target will take over a building that once housed a Sears. In Fort Lauderdale an old theater and office building will be converted into a Target.
“Our continued commitment to opening new stores is really about showing up for our guests and our communities – and it starts with our incredible store team members,” Adrienne Costanzo, Target’s chief stores officer, said in. a statement. “These new stores give our teams the tools and environments to bring our merchandising strengths to life, create easier and more inspiring shopping experiences, and use technology to move smarter and faster every day.
