Tarasenko scores twice as Blues beat Dallas 3-1

Vladimir Tarasenko had two goals, his first multi-goal game since October, as the St. Louis Blues continued to play well on the road, beating Dallas 3-1 on Saturday night at American Airlines Center.

The Blues have won four of their past five road games and six of their past eight. They haven't done as well at home, losing five of their past eight at the Enterprise Center.

The Blues will have another chance for their first three-game win streak of the season when they play at Washington on Monday.

Tarasenko had a goal 34 seconds in to give the Blues a quick lead and then had a power-play goal in the third period to seal the win. In between, Pat Maroon scored.

Jordan Binnington improved to 3-0 and allowed his first even-strength goal since becoming a starter. He took a shutout in to the third period before Dallas finally got the puck past him.

Tarasenko put the Blues ahead just 34 seconds in to the game, taking a pass from Jaden Schwartz and firing a shot past Ben Bishop from the top of the left circle. It was the second fastest goal of the season for the Blues and the 13th goal of the season for Tarasenko.

Maroon, who seemed destined to a life of healthy scratches, scored his fourth of the season, tipping in a pass from Oskar Sundqvist with 10:06 to go in the period. After the puck went in, he raised in arms in as big a showing of jubilation as has been seen anywhere all season.

Binnington stopped 21of 22 shots he faced, and he got some breaks along the way, with one Dallas shot going past him but off the crossbar and the Stars whiffing on an open net in the second period. In his nine periods as a starter, he has allowed just two goals. In his game prior to his most recent NHL callup, he had a shutout in the AHL.

Binnington gave up his first even-strength goal as a starter when Erik Condra scored for Dallas with 11:25 to go in the third on a play the Blues unsuccessfully challenged for goaltender interference. (The refs decided pretty quickly it wasn't interference.) The goal came on just the second shot on goal for Dallas in the period.

Tarasenko got his 14th goal of the season on a power play with 7:22 to go. Sundqvist and David Perron had assists on the play. For Perron, it was his 10th straight game with a point, extending his career high.
