Taoiseach suffers social media blunder as people point out huge error in Twitter video

Taoiseach Micheal Martin was met with a flurry of social media users pointing out a pretty major blunder on his latest post.

The Fianna Fail leader took to Twitter on Monday to share a video following the launch of the Pathways to Work plan.

Ambitious plans have been put in place in a bid to get people back working post-pandemic.

The strategy aims to help 75,000 long-term unemployed into work with a range of commitments including a package of supports for young people, more higher educations training places and a new Work Placement Experience Programme which will provide 10,000 paid placements.

There will also be focus on utilising Remote Working and e-Learning opportunities to help people into the workforce while the government has confirmed a new Pay Related Jobseekers Payment is set to be developed.

The Taoiseach took to Twitter on Monday to promote the government's new plan along with a snazzy new video outlining the details.

However a blunder in the video was quickly spotted as most of the footage in the video used was stock footage.

While this is not unusual, the watermark for each image was still visible indicating that the images may not have been paid for by whoever put the video together.

Naturally social media users were quick to point out the blunder to the Taoiseach.

One person wrote: "You probably should pay for the footage… like you know there is many artists unemployed."

Another added: "You can't even pay for the rights to the license of the stock footage?"

One said: "Jesus christ this is so embarrassing."

And another said: "Pay artists, buy the footage you’re using."

The video has since been deleted from the Taoiseach's account.
