Taoiseach Micheal Martin shares pictures from weekend trip as lockdown eases

Taoiseach Micheal Martin has shared pictures from his weekend trip to the coast as Ireland's travel restrictions finally eased.

Mr Martin, originally from Turner's Cross in Cork, took advantage of the new rules by heading to Ballycotton Cliff Walk.

The 7km trail is on the south east of the Rebel County and has some simply stunning views as you navigate your way up the slopes.

And on Saturday, the leader of the country found time to hike along the trail.

He posted on social media to say: "Grabbed a few hours on Saturday to do the Ballycotton Cliff Walk. Such stunning views - and so good to see people out enjoying the good weather and beautiful scenery."

Ireland is slowly opening back up as the country battles back against a deadly wave of coronavirus infections.

As cases continue to decline and vaccinations ramp up, more changes are expected to the lockdown rules in the coming weeks and months.

And April 19 marks our second lockdown easing date this month after a number of measures were lifted on April 12.

Here are 10 things you can do and 10 things you still can't as Ireland's second lockdown easing date arrives.
