Leo Varadkar has given his backing to the new rebel royals Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
Speaking to reporters after a special Cabinet meeting on disability issues in the Marino Institute of Education in North Dublin, he was asked what he thought of the split in the House of Windsor.
He sided with Harry and Meghan and said: “I wish them the very best.”
There was shock in British Royal circles when the youngest Prince of the British Royal family and his wife Megahn Markle announced they were stepping back from public life.

The reverberations were felt on this side of the Irish Sea too, as there are many Royal fans, especially since Harry and Meghan enjoyed a warm reception when they visited Dublin in 2018.
And now the controversy has reached the highest level of politics in Ireland with Taoiseach, Leo Varadkar and Minister for Finance, Paschal Donohoe, both speaking in support of Harry and Meghan’s decision.
Mr Varadkar said: “I have met them (Harry and Meghan) and they’re a lovely couple, I really enjoyed meeting them.
“They’re very down to earth.
“But I can totally understand given each of their different life experiences why they would like more privacy and why they would like to raise their family in their way.
“So I think any normal person would understand why they’ve made the decision that they’ve made.
“I wish them the very best.”
