Tanguy Ndombele sets ambitious target for next season - and Tottenham fans will love it

Tanguy Ndombele has been discussing what would be the perfect first season for him at Tottenham Hotspur.

The France international was one of two signings made by the north London outfit on Tuesday - the club's first piece of business since January 2018 when Lucas Moura from Paris Saint-Germain.

Jack Clarke was first to seal his move to Spurs as he joined from Leeds United, but that announcement was understandably overshadowed by Ndombele becoming the club's record signing at £63m.

But while Clarke is heading back to Elland Road to continue his development, Ndombele is set to play a key role in the Spurs charge for trophies next season.

And the midfielder has wasted no time in setting out his plan to help the Lilywhites bounce back from one particular defeat from last season.

"I hope to be able to bring what I know I can do," he told the club's official website. "I want to do my bit for the team and the group. I hope to start and integrate well, settle in to the group and then continue in the same way.

"I want to win silverware, that's also why I'm here. For me, I hope we can win the Champions League.

"It's a really tough competition to win, where things are decided by small margins

"I just hope I can win it next season with Tottenham, that would be perfect for me."

Spurs reached the final of the competition last season, only to lose out to Premier League rivals Liverpool in Madrid as they were caught cold at the beginning and at the end of the game.

Therefore, fans will be hoping Ndombele can prove to be the difference.

To his credit, the Frenchman did impress in the Champions League with Lyon last season.

He netted twice in six appearances and really caught the eye in both group games against Manchester City - in particular at the Etihad Stadium when the Ligue 1 side ran out surprise 2-1 winners.
