Tanguy Ndombele update as Tottenham fans wonder why he's not in squad to face Brighton

The Tottenham Hotspur fans have all been wondering exactly where Tanguy Ndombele is after the Frenchman was omitted from the squad to face Brighton.

The 22-year-old came off the bench against Chelsea and one of Tottenham's better players in the second half during the dismal defeat to Frank Lampard's side.

Many fans expected Ndombele to play more of a role against Brighton in the Boxing Day clash at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

However, the France international, who returned to training a couple of days ahead of the Chelsea match, has been left out of the squad entirely and football.london understands he is not injured.

Reports in France claim the midfielder is feeling some adductor discomfort and is at Hotspur Way working to be ready for Norwich, with less than 48 hours between the two matches.

The Spurs boss did tell football.london last week that Ndombele still needs to work on his fitness and be stronger for the physical nature of the Premier League.

"He's a multi-functional midifeld player," he told football.london."I'm not telling you the way we are going to play.

"Tanguy can play as a six, as an eight, as a double. He is a player with a lot of quality, he just needs to be physically strong and mentally adapted to the Premier League.

"The French league is a completely different story, a completely different profile. But [he's a] fantastic talent so we are happy that he can help us."
