Tanguy Ndombele talks begin, Gunners 'in first place' for star & other Arsenal transfer rumours

On the pitch, Arsenal remain in the chase for both the Europa League and a Premier League top four spot. But off it, things are also starting to heat up.

The summer transfer window is getting closer every day and Arsenal are still yet to bring in the technical director they had hoped for to guide them through it.

Despite that, the rumours linking the Gunners with a variety of players from around the globe are not going away any time soon.

Here are the latest updates and rumours for the players the Gunners have been linked with in the press in the last 24 hours.

The six players you might never have heard of that Arsenal, Chelsea & Spurs should try to sign

Dennis Praet

Arsenal are reportedly leading the way for Sampdoria midfielder Dennis Praet, with their chief scout in attendance at the weekend to monitor the 24-year-old.

The Serie A side were beaten 2-1 by Lazio, with Tutto Mercato Web stating that the Gunners’ chief scout was there to specifically watch Praet, who Sampdoria value at around €25m.

Negotiations are expected to open at €20m for the Belgium international, with Juventus’ director of football Fabio Paratici’s presence an indication that the Serie A champions are also considering a move for the midfielder.

However,Tuttosport state that Arsenal are currently "in first place" for Praet.

Nicolas Pepe

Manchester United have reportedly joined the race to sign Lille star Nicolas Pepe, and could move on Romelu Lukaku to make way for the forward.

Lukaku is said to be eyeing a move to Italy, and has recently stated that it is a "dream" to play in Serie A one day. United have identified Pepe as a potential replacement, following his 20-goal haul in Ligue 1 this season according to the Express.

Pepe is also said to be a target for Liverpool and Arsenal, PSG and Chelsea among others. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is said to have a £200m budget this summer, and could use around £60m of it to try and tempt Lille into agreeing a deal.

Tanguy Ndombele

Real Madrid have reportedly begun talks over the summer signing of Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele.

The 22-year-old’s representatives have travelled to Madrid for initial talks over a potential arrival in the summer, according to AS. The talks concern contract terms from the midfielder’s side, and have reportedly been "highly encouraging" for both parties.

However, a deal will not necessarily be straightforward, given the interest in the France international. The likes of PSG and Juventus are said to be tracking him, while Spurs and Arsenal are among the teams from the Premier League linked to a move.

Lyon have also stated that there will only be one or two players leaving this summer, with Nabil Fekir and Houssem Aouar also attracting interest.

Wilfried Zaha

Roy Hodgson says he expects Wilfried Zaha to stay at Crystal Palace despite strong interest in the winger.

Arsenal, Spurs, Borussia Dortmund and former club Manchester United are all rumoured to be considering a move for the Ivory Coast international, and the 26-year-old has made it known that he wants to play in the Champions League.

However, Hodgson believes that Zaha, who has four years left on his current deal, will be at Selhurst Park next season.

"I have that old-fashioned idea that when you sign a contract, you go back after the season ends and start playing again.

"That’s the way I see it. I hope he finds good form in the last two games."
