New Tottenham Hotspur signing Tanguy Ndombele has played down comparisons with Manchester United star Paul Pogba.
The midfielder signed for Spurs for a club record £55m, plus add-ons, earlier this month amid transfer links with United and others, in a move that has been widely lauded.
Many pundits have compared the 22-year-old with fellow France international Pogba, but Ndombele told L'Equipe he was his own player, as he looks to make his mark in the Premier League.
"I have heard it all. I am here to make my own path," he said.
"Paul has made his own in England. I am Tanguy: not the new (Michael) Essien; not the new Pogba."
"I am not going to say that I am far away, but (N'Golo Kante and Pogba) are ahead of me. There is work to do, I need to continue to hustle.
"They became world champions, so automatically they are ahead of me. They have more experience than me too. I see it in training during sequences.
"These little details, movements, turns. I am eternally unsatisfied, so I will continue to learn."
United continue to be linked with midfielders as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to bolster the spine of his side in the remaining weeks of the transfer window.
Pogba — whose agent says he wants a move this summer — has flown over to Australia for the first leg of United's pre-season tour, though the Reds look set to sign midfielders regardless. They are currently tracking Newcastle's Sean Longstaff and Sporting Lisbon playmaker Bruno Fernandes.
Juventus and Real Madrid have both expressed interest in Pogba, though United are not in the market for selling.
