Tanguy Ndombele forced off injured as Tottenham midfielder's fitness woes continue at Southampton

Tanguy Ndombele was forced off injured in the first half of Tottenham's Premier League clash with Southampton.

The France international has been limited to just nine starting appearances in the Premier League following his summer arrival from Lyon.

The midfielder was starting just his second consecutive game under Jose Mourinho but hobbled off after just 25 minutes with Giovani lo Celso onto replace the France international.

His withdrawal compounded a disappointing start for Spurs at St Mary’s having already fallen behind to a Danny Ings goal after 17 minutes.

Mourinho was already short of one midfielder in Eric Dier, who missed out due to a virus.

Tottenham began the day in sixth place, six points off fourth place Chelsea who drew away to Brighton in Wednesday’s early kick-off.
