Tanaiste Leo Varadkar straight into the barber's chair in Temple Bar as Ireland welcomes the start of Phase 3

Tanaiste Leo Varadkar was among the first into the barbers chair at ‘Lauris at T.Read and Co.’ barbers in Temple Bar as Ireland raised a glass and said ‘Slainte’ to ‘Phase 3’ of reopening the nation yesterday.

Pubs, restaurants and hairdressers ended months of lockdown yesterday as up to 100,000 employees were welcomed back to work while across the country families were reunited as travel limits were lifted.

Many grandparents were meeting the 11,000 new ‘lockdown’ babies for the first time, while for others the reopening of thousands of pubs and restaurants and for many - the Fine Gael Leader included - the chance of a haircut marked a day of liberation.

He tweeted: “Lunchbreak haircut. At last!

"Please support small businesses to help people get back to work.

"Now at Cabinet to discuss Covid and July jobs stimulus”
