Tan tips: How to stop your hands and feet from going orange when applying fake tan

We all love the feeling of being bronzed for the weekend ahead, but it sometimes isn't that easy.

Applying fake tan can be such a chore and it can be frustrating when you wake up the next morning with orange hands and feet.

Your hands and feet always seem to develop much darker than the rest of your body, even if you think you have used a minimal amount.

Be has put together some top tips on applying tan onto these tricky areas, leaving your tan even and flawless all over your body.

  • Make sure to use an exfoliating mitt in the shower beforehand to buff away any dry skin.
  • The next step is super important - apply moisturiser on your hands, wrists, feet and ankles, this will allow the tan to go on smoothly.

  • After applying your tan all over your body with a tanning mitt, swap to a flat head make brush like the one below to finish off the application. The brush doesn't have to be expensive, any will work!

  • This will allow you to properly buff the tan into your skin. Move your hand into a claw shape and put the bulk of the tan onto the top of your hand and slowly blend it out down your knuckles and fingers, keeping them bent.
  • The same thing applies for your feet, apply the bulk to the top of them and spread it out with your makeup brush.
  • You can also apply another dot of moisturiser after the tan has dried in on your feet and hands.
  • If you have made the mistake already, apply any self tan remover on your hands and feet for around ten minutes and scrub off with some hot water and exfoliating gloves and try again!
