Tammy Abraham to miss Bournemouth clash as Frank Lampard reveals Chelsea's injury concerns

Frank Lampard has given a concerning update on Chelsea's squad for the trip to face Bournemouth in the Premier League.

The Blues are in action on Saturday afternoon at the Vitality Stadium, and Lampard revealed in his pre-match press conference that they will still be without a number of players - with Tammy Abraham added to that list.

Abraham has been struggling with an ankle injury picked up against Arsenal in January, and did not make the squad for the first game back after the winter break against Manchester United.

He was on the bench for the following two fixtures against Tottenham and Bayern Munich, coming on to feature for 20 minutes against Spurs and half an hour against the Bundesliga side.

However, in the post-game warm down after the 3-0 defeat against the German champions, Abraham pulled up injured and left early while his teammates completed the exercise.

And Lampard has revealed that the striker will now be among the players missing the trip to Bournemouth.

"[Christian] Pulisic is injured. Kante is injured, Abraham is injured. [Hudson-Odoi] is not fit," Lampard told reporters.

"We are trying to find a solution, it's obviously frustrating that he comes in and out somewhat.

"But he's injured.

"I will speak to the doctors about it but we are not clear on that one. Yes, he is not active for the next couple of days so I don’t know.

"[Pulisic] has been longer. It was to be a lot less. But I had a similar injury when I was a player, so I can sympathise. I know it can be a delicate injury."

Michy Batshuayi initially deputised in Abraham's absence, but a poor showing against Manchester United opened the door for Olivier Giroud.

The striker scored in both games against Manchester United and Spurs, though he was adjudged offside by VAR in the defeat against Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's team.

Giroud will be out of contract at the end of the season, but is hoping to force his way into the France squad for this summer's Euro 2020 tournament.
