Tammy Abraham to make decision on international future after attempt to snub England

Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham faces a tricky decision over his international future after Nigeria made an ambitious bid to lure him away from England.

Despite his promising start to the season for the Blues, which has seen him net four goals in his least two league games, Abraham was left out of Gareth Southgate's Three Lions squad for the upcoming Euro 2020 qualifiers against Bulgaria and Kosovo.

The 21-year-old forward made his England debut in a friendly win over Germany in November 2017 and then made a second appearance against Brazil a week later.

However he is still eligible to switch nations as he is yet to play a competitive match for his country of birth.

And The Express has reported that the Super Eagles have made contact with the striker in an attempt to convince him to snub England.

The striker, however, has told them that his will not give them a final decision until April as he ponders over his international careeer.

Nigerian Football Federation president Amaju Pinnock said: “We will not relent in our quest for good players to pay for the country and win laurels. We will keep talking to good players of Nigerian descent to play for their Fatherland.

“But these kids are very independent minded. We have been told to wait until April 2020, when he hopes to make a final decision on the matter.

“I told him that he had a better chance of playing regularly for Nigeria than with England, which has a galaxy of strikers.”

Abraham has been given the task of leading Chelsea's attack this season and, after firing back-to-back blanks in the matches with Manchester United and Leicester , he is finally beginning to live up to his potential.

The London-born striker netted a brace in the 3-2 win at Norwich last month and then followed that performance up with another brace in the 2-2 draw with Sheffield United last weekend.
