Tammy Abraham sums up what Chelsea fans are thinking amid Premier League postponement

Chelsea forward Tammy Abraham has taken to social media to sum how his club’s fanbase is feeling.

The Blues should be preparing for their huge Champions League tie with Bayern Munich this week, but instead, Frank Lampard’s side are unlikely to kick a ball until April at the earliest.

That is because the Premier League and Football League have suspended fixtures for at least three weeks.

Bosses of the game in England came to the decision following the outbreak of coronavirus, which hit the Premier League on Thursday after it was confirmed Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta and Chelsea's Callum Hudson-Odoi had contracted the virus.

The latest on Callum Hudson-Odoi and Premier League suspension

In the early hours of Friday morning it was confirmed that the winger had tested positive for COVID-19 coronavirus and as a result Lampard, the club’s coaching staff and senior squad had all self-isolated.

"Chelsea men’s team player Callum Hudson-Odoi had a positive test result for Coronavirus returned this evening,” the club said in a statement.

“Chelsea personnel who had recent close contact with the player in the men’s team building will now self-isolate in line with Government health guidelines.

"These will include initially the full men’s team squad, coaching staff and a number of backroom staff.

"It is expected that those who did not have close contact with Callum will return to work in the coming days."

Then just a couple of hours later, the Premier League confirmed that it had suspended all fixtures until the start of April, while UEFA followed suit in terms of the Champions League later on in the afternoon.

As a result, the Blues were without a game this weekend, and now Tammy Abraham has taken to social media to sum up how football fans are feeling right now.

Captioning a video of two youngsters laying around bored, the forward wrote: “Me right now.”

The Blues are due to return to action Sunday, April 5 against West Ham at the London Stadium.

But with the government warning the worst of the virus is yet to come it could be some time before football returns.

Premier League clubs are meeting on Thursday to decide what steps to take next.
