Tammy Abraham sends timely message to Thomas Tuchel amid Borussia Dortmund offer

Tammy Abraham is a man with a point to prove at Chelsea under new boss Thomas Tuchel.

The resurgence under Tuchel after club legend after Frank Lampard's sacking was almost unimaginable at the Blues lifted their second Champions League trophy.

But it was bittersweet for striker Abraham, who was left out in the cold despite finishing the season as the club's joint-highest goalscorer.

Abraham was omitted from the Blues' 23-man squad for the final against Manchester City at the Estadio do Drago.

A favourite under Lampard, Abraham slipped down the pecking order under the German manager and endured a spell on the sidelines through injury.

In total, Abraham played just 17 minutes in the final three months of the season, leading to inevitable speculation over his future.

While the 23-year-old may not be fancied by Tuchel, he is a natural goalscorer and that scarcity value is making him an attractive option for a host of clubs in this summer's transfer window.

And he sent another reminder of his finishing abilities in a behind-closed doors friendly at the club's Cobham training ground on Saturday afternoon.

The Blues thrashed newly-promoted Championship side Peterborough 6-1, as Hakim Ziyech scored a hat-trick and Christian Pulisic struck.

Abraham was afforded a run out as pre-season got underway and netted with an assured effort as he featured in the first 45 minutes of the friendly.

Abraham's goalscoring cameo comes as he could be offloaded as a makeweight in a deal for Borussia Dortmund forward Erling Haaland.

Tuchel is keen to sign a new elite striker this summer despite already boasting Abraham and Timo Werner in his ranks.

And Tuchel could be prepared to sacrifice Abraham to seal an extraordinary deal for Haaland.

Mirror Sport understands the Blues are willing to offer Abraham in part exchange for the Norwegian, who is the most coveted striker in world football.

Haaland netted 27 goals in the Bundesliga last term and is seen as an obvious upgrade on Abraham.

But Dortmund have already agreed the £72.9m deal to sell Jadon Sancho to Manchester United and will be reluctant to lose their other star player.

A bright pre-season for Abraham coupled with the struggle to secure an elite forward signing could see Tuchel rethink his striker plans this summer.

And Abraham made the ideal start with a reminder of his goalscoring qualities in west London.
