Tammy Abraham's perfect response amid talk of Erling Haaland to Chelsea transfer

The jury is still out on who is Chelsea's best centre-forward.

After splashing the cash on Timo Werner last summer there was hope that the Germany international would replicate his brilliant form at RB Leipzig and help the Blues mount a Premier League title push.

However, the 24-year-old hasn't quite lived up to his £47.5m price-tag and is without a Premier League goal since the 4-1 home win over Sheffield United all the way back in November.

With that said, Werner has found some joy operating as more of a support striker since Thomas Tuchel tweaked the Chelsea formation to a 3-4-1-2 system.

Chelsea injury news ahead of Newcastle

But question marks remain over who should be the main striker for the Blues next season.

Hence links to one of the most prolific strikers around as last month it emerged that Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland is a reported transfer target for Chelsea this summer.

According to The Athletic, the Blues are determined to bring a top striker to Stamford Bridge at the end of the season and it's been decided that Haaland is the player they want.

And the managerial change has not altered those plans as it has been reported that David Alaba of Bayern Munich and Haaland are both on Tuchel's radar.

Rumours of a move for Haaland seems to have made Tammy Abraham even more determined to prove he's capable of being the Blues' first-choice striker.

Interestingly, since Chelsea's transfer plans were revealed - ahead of the 2-0 loss at Leicester City on January 19 - the England international has scored three times in four appearances.

Granted, three of those came in the same game - the 3-1 FA Cup fourth-round win over Luton Town in what was Frank Lampard's final match in charge - and the other came against Barnsley.

Abraham will have to make a difference in the bigger games in order to cement his status as Chelsea's undisputed centre-forward and perhaps cause Tuchel and transfer chief Marina Granovskaia to rethink their plans.

But his response to the rumours has been perfect so far.
