England and Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham admits he couldn't believe his side crumbled at the death at St James' Park on Saturday night.
The man who once turned down the Magpies in favour of a move to Swansea City watched on as Isaac Hayden flicked home in injury time.
Before that Abraham had been gifted a chance to put Chelsea ahead but made a hash of his opportunity.
Afterwards he said: "It’s a tough one to take.
"These are the kind of games you watch on TV and you never expect it to happen to you.
"We dominated the game, in the second half I don’t remember them having a shot until the last minute and they score.
"For us, we have to give credit to Newcastle, they defended well all game, they disrupted our style of play, but we gave it our all and were unfortunate to lose at the end."
After the game Chelsea boss Frank Lampard had to lift his players with Blues players staring at the dressing room floor following their late choker.
Abraham said: "The gaffer said after the game: 'We gave it our all, keep your heads up we’ve got another massive game on Tuesday' and we just have to take our anger out against Arsenal."
