Tammy Abraham issues injury update after hobbling off during Chelsea draw at Valencia

Tammy Abraham is hopeful his injury is not a serious one after being forced off against Valencia.

Chelsea striker Abraham landed awkwardly as he went up for a header in the 2-2 draw in the Champions League.

He was in serious discomfort as he made his way off the pitch and was then taken down the tunnel on a stretcher.

Abraham will undergo an X-ray on Thursday and admits he is confident he will not be out of action for a long period of time.

"It's much better, much better than when it happened," he told Chelsea TV.

"At the time I was fearful of the worst, obviously, but when I got in [to the changing room] I was able to walk again, move about.

"So [I'm] thankful. Hopefully it's not too long [out injured].

"Yeah, I hope [it's just bruising]. I'll have a scan tomorrow - or an X-ray, to see what the news is but hopefully it's just bruising.

"At the end of the day I think it was a knee to my hip area, so hopefully it's nothing too serious."

Chelsea fell behind to a Carlos Soler striker but drew level almost immediately through Mateo Kovacic.

Christian Pulisic then put the visitors ahead after VAR intervention before Kepa saved a penalty from Dani Parejo.

But the Blues goalkeeper went from hero to zero as he was caught out by Daniel Wass before Valencia pushed forward for a late winner, to no avail.
