Tammy Abraham injury: Chelsea striker stretchered off after painful fall vs Valencia

Chelsea face an anxious wait over the fitness of striker Tammy Abraham after coming off at half-time against Valencia in the Champions League.

Abraham was involved in an accidental collision with Ezequiel Garay at a corner after going up for a header and landing awkwardly on the Argentine's boot.

The 22-year-old looked in great discomfort, appearing to hold his hip, as he was helped off the pitch by Chelsea's medical staff.

And with the England international seemingly unable to walk unaided, he was later carried off on a stretcher out of Mestalla.

The timing of the incident happened, just seconds before the interval, meant Blues coach Frank Lampard was able to wait before sending on Michy Batshuayi for the second half with the scores level at 1-1.

Carlos Soler had put the hosts in front after beating Kepa from Rodrigo's cross but Mateo Kovacic's first goal since January 2017 just two minutes later got Chelsea back in the game.

Lampard will now be left sweating over Abraham's availability for their home fixture against West Ham on Saturday.
