Tammy Abraham delivers injury update for Chelsea fans amid Frank Lampard's transfer hint

Tammy Abraham is hopeful that his injury is not too bad after he was seen limping following Chelsea's 2-2 draw with Arsenal at Stamford Bridge.

The Chelsea striker limped off with an ankle injury after clattering into the advertising boards during the London derby, with Abraham having to be helped off the pitch at the end of the match, despite having played on after the incident.

After the game, Chelsea head coach Frank Lampard confirmed that Abraham had ice on his ankle, but was not able to confirm how long the striker may be out for, simply adding that he felt he had enough options in his squad to deal with the injury.

"I hope he's not (out for several weeks), but then if he is then yes, we do have the players to cope," Lampard said.

Frank Lampard on soft Arsenal goals

However, Lampard has not ruled out signing another striker in the January transfer window, with the Blues being strongly linked with a move to sign Paris Saint-Germain forward Edinson Cavani, who has also been linked with Manchester United and Atletico Madrid.

Indeed, he dropped a hint after the game that Chelsea could make a move in the closing stages of the window to sign a striker, following the injury to Abraham.

"You can't say we will definitely sign a striker but we are looking," he said, speaking after the game to the BBC .

"If you don't score enough goals then you won't win enough games."

Abraham was seen limping as he left Stamford Bridge after the game, although sports reporter Carrie Brown posted a video on Twitter that showed he was not wearing a protective boot in what she said was a "promising" sign.

And Abraham has posted an update on social media for the Chelsea fans on his injury.

His message, which he posted on Twitter, said: "Not the end result we would had liked but we have to keep going & fighting! Thanks for the support & messages. Hopefully my injury isn’t too bad."

Abraham has scored 15 goals for the Blues so far this season and has been a regular in Lampard's side, featuring in 31 games in all competitions for Chelsea.
