Tammy Abraham breaks silence after scoring twice to help Chelsea see off West Ham

Tammy Abraham has spoken following his brace in Chelsea's win over West Ham United on Monday evening.

The Blues bounced back from consecutive defeats with a 3-0 win over their London rivals and Abraham scored twice, proving Frank Lampard's team selection right.

Olivier Giroud replaced Abraham in the lead striking role in recent weeks but the England international returned for the clash against the Hammers with the Blues suffering a dip in form of late.

"That was much more like it," Abraham told Sky Sports when asked about the win. "I said it before, the boys needed to put on a performance today and that’s what we’ve done.

"My job is to help the team as much as possible and to score goals, being in the right areas and that’s what I did for those two goals.

“As a striker, scoring goals gives you confidence. I give credit to my teammates, they created a lot of chances today and we defended well as a team, to beat West Ham 3-0 is a great result.

Abraham also had praise for West Ham despite what ended up being a comprehensive win for Lampard's men, going on to address whether the recent losses have had an impact on Chelsea's confidence.

“They are a great side, give credit to them because they have been great this year," he added. "We had to stay patient for the second and the third goal, we defended well.

"I don’t think the losses knocked our confidence, we know we’re a good side and we just lost our concentration for two games but we brought it back today so hopefully we can kick on.

Abraham continued: "At the end of the day, it’s all about the three points. Some games you have bad days, as long as you get the win, that’s what makes a top side.

"We had to grind for that win today and that’s what we done.”
