Tammy Abraham has said he hopes to be back in action for Chelsea "soon".
The 22-year-old's impressive season as the Blues' first-choice striker has been disrupted since the turn of the year with a nagging ankle injury affecting his performances of late.
He appeared to have suffered even more damage to the troublesome ankle during the 3-0 Champions League loss against Bayern Munich last month and subsequently sat out the 2-2 draw with Bournemouth a few days later.
Abraham missed the game against Liverpool in the FA Cup on Tuesday night with a combination of the injury as well as a bout of flu and head coach Frank Lampard couldn't give a timeframe for the striker's return.
"He went to Barcelona, had another set of eyes on it and has come back relatively positive," Lampard said, speaking at his pre-match press conference .
"Unfortunately he's unwell at the moment, he's off for a couple of days with a bit of a bug, so no [news on a return date]."
And now Abraham has broken his silence regarding his injury problems.
Amid talk that he's hopeful of returning in time for England's international's later this month, the 22-year-old did have a rather positive update for Blues as well as Three Lions supporters.
"Fingers crossed, that is the aim, I am not really a good watcher so hopefully I will be back soon," he told the club's official website .
Abraham was speaking at the London Football Awards on Thursday night.
It proved to be a memorable night for the striker as he took home the London Premier League Player of the Year as well as the Young Player of the Year.
He fended off competition from Crystal Palace's Gary Cahill, Tottenham Hotspur star Son Heung-min, Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and teammate Jorginho to the main award.
While in the award for young stars, he came out on top ahead of Bryan Mbeumo, Fikayo Tomori, Gabriel Martinelli and teammate Mason Mount.
A fine reward after netting 15 goals across all competitions so far this season.
