Tammy Abraham and Jorginho's discussion, plus Mason Mount with the Southampton fans

Tammy Abraham and Jorginho pre-match

Something we haven’t seen too often since the Watford game was the stunning sort of pass that Jorginho provided for Tammy Abraham for his goal at Vicarage Road.

However, it looked like before Chelsea’s 2-0 defeat to Southampton that they were planning to recreate that moment if possible.

Just before kick off, Abraham and the Italy international were in deep discussion, with Jorginho indicating that he would be looking for that pass again.

However, it didn’t really work too well as the link up just wasn’t there for the Blues and Abraham had a frustrating afternoon.

Chelsea: A look back at 2019

Mason Mount and the Southampton fans

For those who didn’t know, Mason Mount is a big Portsmouth fan, which doesn’t go down well with Southampton supporters.

During the win over the Saints earlier in the season, Mount cupped his ears to the home fans when he scored.

So as he went over to warm up towards the away end yesterday, they were sure to lay it on thick towards the midfielder.

Mount took it all in his stride and just gave a smile.

Rudiger and Azpilicueta jostle for a throw-in

Chelsea were pretty frustrated throughout their defeat to the Saints that there was a lot of time wasting straight away from the visitors.

Ryan Bertrand picked up a yellow card inside the first half when the score was still 0-0, and Antonio Rudiger was one of those annoyed.

With the Blues losing 1-0 at the time, Rudiger was so keen to get his team’s tempo up that he wrestled the ball off his own players to take a throw in.

Cesar Azpilicueta was there to take it as well, but the Germany international wasn’t happy for things to be slowed down so he grabbed the ball and threw it to Fikayo Tomori to get the Blues going.

The broken record

Chelsea’s home form has been poor in recent weeks and that was summed up with one particular statistic.

It was the first time since 2011 that Chelsea have lost back-to-back Premier League games at Stamford Bridge.

At that time, Andre Vilas-Boas was in charge and it wasn’t long before he was eventually given the sack by Roman Abramovich

Lampard dismissed it as an ‘isolated’ fact and the Blues legend is certainly not in danger of being shown the exit right now.

But it’s a record that the Blues must put right and improve things at home.
