MADURAI: The Madurai railway division has announced the restoration of three trains which were suspended during the pandemic.
According to a statement from the division, train No. 06652 Rameswaram – Madurai unreserved special will leave Rameswaram at 11am and reach Madurai at 2.40pm. In the opposite direction, train No. 06653 Madurai – Rameswaram unreserved special will leave Madurai at 12.30pm and reach Rameswaram at 4.10pm. These trains will be operated from June 22 and stop at Pamban, Mandapam, Mandapam Camp, Uchipuli, Valandaruvai, Ramanathapuram, Sathirakudi, Paramakudi, Soodiyur, Manamadurai, Rajagambeeram, Thiruppachethi, Tirupuvanam, Silaiman and Madurai East. The composition will be nine second class coaches and two second class cum parcel vans.
Train No. 22621 Rameswaram – Kanyakumari tri-weekly express will leave Rameswaram at 9pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays and reach Kanyakumari at 4.15am the next day. Train No. 22622 Kanaykumari – Rameswaram tri-weekly express will leave Kanyakumari at 10.15pm on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays and reach Rameswaram at 5.35am next day. The services will begin from June 27. These trains will stop at Ramanathapuram, Paramakudi, Manamadurai, Madurai, Virudhunagar, Tirunelveli and Nagercoil. These trains will have three three-tier AC, nine sleeper, four unreserved and two differently-abled coaches.
Train No. 06666/06661 Kollam - Punalur - Kollam unreserved special is also going to be revived from June 22.
Train No. 16354 Nagercoil – Kacheguda weekly express will leave Nagercoil at 8.40am on Saturdays and reach Kacheguda at 1.25pm the next day. The train will run from July 2. Train No. 16353 Kacheguda – Nagercoil express will leave Kacheguda at 3.45pm on Sundays and reach Nagercoil at 7.50pm the next day.
