CHENNAI: A woman and her son died while his wife escaped with injuries when the car in which they were travelling met with an accident at Sriperumbudur on Sunday night.
The family of three were returning after attending a wedding at Tiruvannamalai.
The deceased were identified as Ravishankar, 45, of Medavakkam and his mother Geetha, 65. Ravishankar’s wife Rajeshwari, 40, is being treated at a hospital.
Police said when their car crossed Pillaichathiram, Ravishankar lost control of his vehicle and hit a small bridge on the roadside. Due to the impact, Ravishankar and his mother suffered severe injuries and died a shortly after. Passersby rushed them to Sriperumbudur government hospital where the mother-son duo were declared brought dead. Police are trying to find out the cause of the accident.
