Tamil Nadu minister K N Nehru inspects Tidel Park site in Trichy

TRICHY: K N Nehru, the minister for municipal administration, urban and water supply on Sunday inspected the site identified for the Tidel Park proposed for Trichy at Rs 600 crores in Panjapur on Trichy-Madurai national highway.

Stating that Trichy Corporation would earmark 10 acres of ready-to-use land for the proposal, the minister said Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage (TWAD) board was told to prepare a special proposal to improve the infrastructure in the locality.

"Basic amenities including water supply will be improved between Panjapur and Thuvakudi stretch to make Trichy a hub and generate employment opportunities. Trichy Corporation’s land will be provided for the Tidel Park proposal announced in the state assembly," the minister said.

When asked about the opening of the Chennai arm of the Trichy junction road over bridge nearing completion in Mannarpuram, Nehru said that the first stage of the road over bridge will be opened in a week. "Other elevated corridors proposed for the city are put on hold for the Trichy Metro proposal. I discussed with the bureaucrats, and they said that the detailed project report will be completed soon. They assured that Trichy will not be left out in the Metro project," Nehru added.
