Tamil Nadu man hacks younger brother to death

TUTICORIN: Jealous of his younger brother leading a comfortable life, a 51-year-old man from Tuticorin district hacked him to death on Monday night and surrendered before the police.

The victim was identified as A Murugan, 45, the third son of Arumugam alias Pulipandi from Bommaiyapuram. Police said the accused, Muniyasamy is the eldest of the five siblings but was not married as he was a mentally disturbed person. The man was living near his father’s house while his two younger brothers and sisters got married and were living elsewhere.

Arumugam did not give Muniyasamy any share in the property as he did not have a family. He developed a grudge over his siblings over this. On Monday, Murugan, who was living with his wife and two children in Ceylon Colony in Ottapidaram, came to Bommaiyapuram to show his new two-wheeler to his father. Later that night, he slept in Muniyasamy’s house.

According to the police, Muniyasamy hacked his brother to death with a machete when the victim was asleep.

He then went to the Pasuvanthanai police station and confessed to the crime. Police retrieved Murugan’s body and sent it for postmortem.

SP of Tuticorin district S Jayakumar visited the scene and investigated. The accused was produced before the court and lodged in jail. The magistrate directed the prison officials to ensure that is given medicines and necessary treatment for his ailment.TNN
