CHENNAI: A police inspector was moved to vacancy reserve (VR) after a man lodged a complaint against him, claiming that he found the inspector’s nude photographs in his wife’s mobile phone and that he was in an extramarital relationship with her.
The screenshots of the inspector talking to the woman went viral on social media on Sunday.
Thirukazhukundram police inspector Munisekar has been moved to vacancy reserve. He is the officer who accidentally fired his service revolver when a police team was trying to nab the suspects in a gold heist case hiding in a village in Rajasthan's Pali district in an undercover operation.
The woman's husband, in a complaint forwarded to DGP, IG, North zone, DIG and SP, stated that he resided in Nelvayal village in Chengalpet district, with his wife of nine years and two children. He also stated that his wife was frequently visiting her sister in Thirukazhunkundram and started acting distant with him and his children. The couple also fought often, he said, and added that he went through her mobile phone suspecting her of having an extramarital affair. He found obscene and nude photographs of the inspector and recordings of video calls between his wife and Munisekar.
When confronted, his wife took the children and left for her sister’s place, the complainant added. He then called the inspector over phone, who did not respond. But soon after, the man started getting life threats and stated in the complaint that his wife and Munisekar were to be held responsible if something happened to him. He demanded action against the inspector and sought protection.
A senior police officer said a departmental probe has been initiated against Munisekar, two assistant commissioners will get a statement from him and submit a report in two weeks.
