Tamil Nadu: App to make search for documents easy

CHENNAI: You can now search for a pediatrician, gynecologist or a family physician in your area free of cost using an application launched by the Tamil Nadu Medical Council.

The app will provide names, qualifications and contact information about licensed medical practices. It will not rank or rate doctors.

"The app is not a commercial venture and aims to give patients a directory of qualified doctors. It will prevent quackery and not allow doctors to use degrees that they are not qualified for," said K Senthil, President of the council.

The statutory body launched two other mobile apps. One is for doctors that attempts to standardise the prescriptions and other documents like leave certificates and death certificates. Another is a digital medical records software that helps doctors maintain outpatient (OP) and in-patient (IP) details. It will also assist doctors to provide telemedicine consultations.
