Tamar Braxton has been rushed to hospital in Los Angeles, following reports of a possible suicide attempt.

The musician and reality TV star, who is the sister of Toni Braxton, is reportedly in a stable condition after being found unresponsive in a hotel suite at LA’s Ritz Carlton Residences.

According to The Blast, ambulance crews were alerted to the scene by Braxton’s boyfriend David Adefeso, who believed the incident to be a suicide attempt.

The LAPD has confirmed that an emergency call relating to a 43-year-old woman was made around 9.45pm on Thursday (16 July).

A spokesperson for Braxton told The Blast: “Tamar has had a very tough and emotional day – more information will be coming in the next few days. Please pray for her.”

Braxton rose to fame on the reality series Braxton Family Values, and soon embarked upon a TV career as one of the hosts of the daytime talk show The Real.

She has also released four well-received albums, most recently 2017’s Bluebird of Happiness.

Her TV credits include the US version of Celebrity Big Brother, which she won in 2019, and the forthcoming competition series To Catch a Beautician.

The Independent has reached out to Braxton’s representative for comment.
