Tam McManus in Ryan Porteous reverse as Celtic tackle is slammed by Hibs hero

Tam McManus has slammed Ryan Porteous for his tackle on Callum McGregor - just a few weeks after leaping to the Hibs stopper’s defence.

Porteous was booked for a wild lunge which left Celtic captain McGregor with a nasty gash on his leg.

It comes after Porteous caused controversy for an over-the-ball the challenge on Joe Aribo which resulted in a red card at Ibrox.

The photos of McGregor’s leg don’t look good for the 22-year-old who has earned a reputation for rash tackles.

McManus was one of the few who backed Porteous after his foul on Aribo, claiming he didn’t deserve to be given his marching orders.

Hibs appealed the decision but lost that and Record Sport columnist and former Easter Road striker McManus - who works as a regular pundit admitted he couldn’t side with Porteous this time.

He took to social media to say: “I defended Ryan stoutly for his tackle at Ibrox as felt he made a genuine attempt to win ball & no malice to hurt the player.

“But this is poor imo & i said so at time. Going back 2-3 seasons ago trying to win ball & leave a bit on player. Don’t like it at all & it’s dangerous.”

Ange Postecoglou’s men romped to a 3-1 win over the Edinburgh men - a fourth defat on the spin for Hibs.
