Tam Courts reveals Rangers upset 'sneaking suspicion' as Dundee United boss turns Mystic Meg

Delighted Dundee United boss Tam Courts admits he had a feeling his side could shock Rangers.

Jamie Robson's strike proved enough to stun Steven Gerrard 's champions and deal an early blow to their Premiership title defence hopes.

For Courts' men, it marks a major turnaround from the opening day disappointment when they were convincingly defeated by Aberdeen.

It's a massive result for the former Kelty Hearts boss who was a surprise appointment to succeed Micky Mellon, having been a part of the Dundee United academy.

Despite the result raising a few eyebrows, Courts insists he had a feeling earlier this week they could earn a shock win.

He told Sky Sports: "To be fair, I had a weird feeling this week that we could actually win this game.

"I didn't know where it had came from, and dare I say it, I didn't want to mention it to anyone either because I think I would have looked foolish, particularly on the back of a poor performance last week.

"I just had a sneaking suspicion we would perform and thankfully we did that and got a monumental victory today.

"I think last week the bloodied nose we took, and some of the ideas that we actually tried to implement came to the fore today.

"Perhaps we were better off after last week, but it was a colossal performance from the boys and all the credit has to go to them."
