Tallaght Stadium to get a massive €7.7 million upgrade

A massive upgrade of almost €8 million was announced for Tallaght Stadium, which will boost the capacity so it can cater for 10,000 people.

South Dublin County Council confirmed the €7.7m funding boost for the purpose built, state-of-the-art home of Shamrock Rovers FC.

The plan includes the building of a new North Stand and development of the West Stand to a high-quality corporate area.

Daniel McLoughlin, Chief Executive of South Dublin County Council, who  recently signed off on the plans, said, “The ongoing investment being made in the development of Tallaght Stadium is evidence of our council's commitment to sport, community infrastructure, the civic pride and  reputation of the Tallaght area.”

The local authority said it intends to promote Tallaght Stadium as an events venue to include music, festivals and all aspects of community events.

South Dublin County Council stated with stadium seating and temporary on-field seating the venue will accommodate up to 20,000 people.
