A Tallaght dad has said he is "totally overwhelmed" after reaching a funding goal for his book series about real-life adventures with his daughter.
A Kickstarter campaign to fund the books reached its target in less than two hours.
Gavin Leonard created "Not Just A Princess" to empower his two-year-old daughter Jade to be whatever she wants to be in life.
The books came to life after his blog became a viral hit and amassed over 13,000 followers on Facebook.
The campaign will run for the next four weeks, and has already raised over €7,000 with an initial goal of €4,500.
Gavin said: “This is the dream start to the Kickstarter campaign – we are so overwhelmed with the way people have responded to this idea and to the Not Just a Princess ethos over the last 12 months.
"The fact that we have reached our goal already means that parents will be reading our stories, with such strong, capable female role models, to their little girls and boys by the Summer; it is a dream come true.”
Gavin hopes to raise morethan €20,000 to ensure that the Not Just a Princess stories spread around the world.
Not Just a Princess is a series of books that features a princess with a unique set of skills in each.
Along with her animal sidekick, each princess helps people to solve problems in the fictional land of ‘Wonderville’.
