Please help us with a problem with TalkTalk. We have received a number of letters and packages addressed to a “Miss Gray”, which we have returned unopened. As we belong to a vulnerable age group, we are wary of anything that seems to be taking advantage. We cannot be sure our address is being used to deceive or that it is an offence, but it is an intrusion which causes anxiety, with the prospect of debt collectors and bailiffs turning up on our doorstep. We are also concerned that should we wish to sell the house we would have to declare this nuisance if it continues.
Action Fraud has been very helpful and reassuring – they would know more than we would if this is an isolated incident or a more widespread problem. Any help would be most appreciated. Mr and Mrs V, Dartford, Kent
We can understand your concern. Well done for being pro-active and contacting Action Fraud. However, after getting in touch with TalkTalk, we were reassured that they were aware of someone of this name with a similar address to you, which means it is an administrative issue rather than any kind of fraud. A TalkTalk spokesperson said: “We’re sorry that Mr and Mrs V received letters from us meant for a near-neighbour. We’re sorry for the confusion and we have updated our records so they won’t be bothered any more.”
