A pub that's packed to the rafters with Nottingham Forest fans on match days is changing hands. Waterside Bar + Kitchen, next to Trent Bridge, was rebranded from the Southbank Bar - dubbed the Forest fans "local" - in 2020.
The venue, which was the go-to bar for footie fans, was given an £500,000 makeover to complement the luxury Waterside Apartment complex with riverside views in West Bridgford and appeal to a wider and more diverse crowd.
A new all-day concept was introduced, offering an innovative menu and more varied range of drinks with weekend DJs and special dining events.
Dave Willans, owner of Nottingham-based Great Northern Group, said: "We have operated the venue since 1998, firstly as the extremely popular Southbank Trent Bridge, welcoming hundreds of thousands of sports fans over the years then, after the development of the Civic Centre, we re-launched the bar as Waterside Bar and Kitchen and we enjoyed some great summer days on the renovated outdoor area in spite of the pandemic. Both myself and Les [Howard, co-director] would like to thank both the customers and staff for all their loyal support over the years."
The as yet, unnamed new owners will take control from Monday, March 21. The bar is the fourth venue to be sold off by the Great Northern Group, which recently dropped the Cross Keys in Nottingham and cafe bars Copper in the city centre and Mapperley from its estate. Those three venues have been acquired by the London-based RedCat Pub Company.
