Talks for Nottingham Forest star, Lamouchi wants £5m forward, Liverpool man in demand - Championship rumours

Bristol City are yet to make a splash in the transfer market this summer but clubs across the Championship are beginning to make moves ahead of the start of the season on September 12.

With Premier League interest in a number of Championship stars there is an element of a domino effect needing to take place to really shake the market into gear, with the financial effects of the pandemic and the fact the window is open until October only adding to uncertainty.

Here are the latest transfer rumours and gossip from across the league ...

Forest talks with Burnley over Joe Worrall transfer

Nottingham Forest remain in talks with Burnley concerning a deal for Joe Worrall.

The Daily Mail reports that the Clarets are prepared to offer Ben Gibson and £4m in exchange for the Forest centre back. Sheffield United are also reportedly interested in Worrall’s services.

He has a contract at the City Ground until 2024 and is an England under-21 international who played 48 times in all competitions for the Championship club last season.

Dembele a wanted man across England

Sticking with Forest, having last week signed Lyle Taylor on a free transfer, Sabri Lamouchi is also one of several managers interested in Peterborough forward Siriki Dembele.

According to Football Insider, Forest and Brentford and joined by Premier League sides Crystal Palace and Fulham in monitoring the situation of the 23-year-old.

Posh, who may also be selling striker Ivan Toney to Brentford for a deal worth £10m, value Dembele, who scored six goals in 27 games with seven assists, at £5m.

Huddersfield, Reading and Forest all interested in Liverpool’s Ojo

A trio of Championship clubs are reportedly interested in signing Liverpool winger Sheyi Ojo.

Goal.com reports that Reading, Huddersfield Town and Nottingham Forest are all interested in the 23-year-old.

Ojo is permitted to depart Anfield this summer, either permanently or on loan, the report adds.

He spent last season on loan at Scottish giants Rangers, and has had spells in the Championship before with both Wolves and Wigan Athletic.

Downing’s Blackburn contract offer still not signed

Stewart Downing is yet to sign a new contract which has been offered to him by Blackburn Rovers.

The Lancashire Telegraph reports that the 36-year-old is still yet to put pen to paper on the fresh terms offered to him by the Ewood Park side.

He is a free agent and can speak to other clubs about a move elsewhere.

Downing was also not part of an extended group which returned to pre-season training after a break of more than three weeks.
