One City commentator has said the City will “crumble” if people do not start returning to the office soon.

The comments came as Boris Johnson is expected to ease work from home guidance.

David Buik said the City was “like a morgue,” and that staff should return to get society “firing on all cylinders” again.

“If all the sandwich shops close it’s like a domino effect. All the restaurants close, all the bars close, the number of people go out of work. All of a sudden you’re looking at three million unemployed.”

The government, however, is not expected to actively campaign to get people back in the office, instead leaving it up to employers to decide their own rules.

Some have already started encouraging office work again, while others are happy to let employees continue working from home. Will you be heading back to the office after July 19th? Let us know in the comments so we can feature you on the ES website tomorrow.

CocoLoco1 said: “No. Because we don’t have a viable opposition.”

DeForis66, meanwhile, said: “You can kill tens of thousands with ineptitude and waste billions with corrupt intent and people shrug their shoulders but you kiss one woman in private and your sacked!”
