London failed to rank in a list of the world’s most liveable cities today, with Auckland instead nabbing the number one spot.

The list, compiled by the Economist Intelligence Unit, rated 140 global cities.

The highest entry from the UK was Manchester - in 54th - with London trailing behind in 60th.

The list changed significantly this year due to the impact of the pandemic, with the EIU explaining that cities in New Zealand, such as Auckland and Wellington, have been able to enjoy a comparatively normal lifestyle.

Other cities in the top ten included Osaka, Adelaide, Wellington, Tokyo, Perth, Zurich, Geneva, Melbourne, and Brisbane.

But how do you think London could become a more liveable city? Let us know your thoughts in the comments for the chance to feature tomorrow.

Yesterday’s Talking Point: How do you feel about returning to the office five days a week?

Most of you weren’t happy about the prospect of returning to the office full time.

“Adrivittoriano” said “it’s much better at home,” and “boo_arnoldbrown” agreed: “Hell no I won’t go!”

Some thought that flexible working would be a better option for the future, with Lee Galvin saying: “The norm should be flexibility, 5 days back in the office would be a backwards step imo.”

But others pointed out the luxury of being able to have such opinions, with “Topdecs1” adding: “Been working since day 1, must be luxury sitting at home.”
