Talking Point: What do you think of meditation train carriages on the DLR?

Commuters are being encouraged to meditate on their journey to work with new “chill-out” carriages installed on Docklands Light Railway (DLR) trains.

The “Inner Journey” initiative has been designed to ease back-to-office anxiety, with twelve trains housing the dedicated “mindfulness” carriages.

The carriages have been decorated with pictures of mountains, forests, and oceans, while “meditation corners” have also been established at Canary Wharf, Tower Gateway, and Woolwich Arsenal stations.

The initiative comes ahead of World Mental Health Day on Sunday, and claims to be a world first.

What do you think of the concept? Is it a useful tool for commuters, or a waste of funding?

We’d love to hear your thoughts, so let us know in the comments.

Yesterday’s Talking Point: Does Mark Zuckerberg have too much power?

Most of you agreed with this question.

Louise.andrews.1401 said: “It’s never good to let just one person have power and control. No good can come from it. Competition is healthy and necessary.”

Ezekiel_madsen, meanwhile, is “baffled” that Facebook, Google and others giants weren’t “broken up long ago.”

And lin_whitehouse pointed to what we can do about the problem: “In a word, yes, but we all give him that power. Say goodbye to social media and start having real conversations again.”
