Talking Point: What did you think of Keir Starmer’s speech?

(Picture: PA Wire)

Sir Keir Starmer’s first big conference speech made quite the impression today, with the Labour leader unveiling his vision to “make this nation anew.”

Starmer also took a few shots at Boris Johnson and the current fuel crisis, exclaiming: “Level up? You can’t even fill up.”

The speech was met with heckling from within the audience, which Starmer met with the response: “Slogans? Or changing lives?”

One woman in question has since proclaimed herself not to be a “heckler.”

What did you think of Starmer’s speech? Let us know your thoughts in the comments and we’ll feature you on the ES website tomorrow.

Yesterday’s Talking Point: Should essential worker only petrol stations be introduced?

Not many of you agreed with the idea of essential worker only petrol stations.

ParisTexas said: “But what about the hundreds of thousands, like myself, who are caring for elderly parents.”

CheshireCat, meanwhile, wanted to see people use alternative transport: “I agree with people walking, cycling and using public transport. Just think what benefit that would be to them and the planet. People driving arrive at work stressed out and bad tempered.”

And Lookeehere got in touch to condemn those “panic buying” fuel: “If you are a panic fuel buyer, you are responsible for the petrol stations running out of fuel.”

Others, though, mentioned not experiencing any problems themselves. Fred McBrown said: “I got petrol with no problem today, queued for only ten minutes.”
