As cases of the Omicron Covid variant double every two to three days, reports claim that Boris Johnson could put “Plan B” restrictions before Parliament as early as Thursday.
Plan B would include vaccine passports for large venues and renewed advice to work from home.
Downing Street sources said “no decisions have been made” yet, but Number 10 did not deny rumours of new restrictions yesterday.
Leading epidemiologist Professor Neil Ferguson, meanwhile, said a January lockdown could not be ruled out if hospitalisations spiral over Christmas and into the New Year.
