Talking Point: Have you been affected by fuel shortages in London?

Londoners have been struck by fuel shortages today, with many being forced to abandon their cars and work from home.

The capital in particular seems to have borne the brunt of the crisis, with retailers reporting that up to 90 per cent of their outlets are out of petrol and diesel.

Ministers are holding meetings in an attempt to ease the issue, while Mayor Sadiq Khan encouraged the Government to bring in Army assistance.

Environment Secretary George Eustice said: “The most important thing is that people just buy petrol as they normally would. There isn’t a shortage. There does come a time when things settle down, people get used to it and return to life as normal again. The quicker people do that the better. The only reason we don’t have petrol in forecourts is that people are buying petrol when they don’t need it.”

Have the fuel shortages affected you personally? Have you found yourself queueing for petrol, or having to work from home?

Let us know in the comments and we’ll feature you on the Evening Standard website tomorrow.
